A 3-day executive workshop: How to Safeguard Agility At Scale.

A few years ago, we trained many hundreds of employees of this fine company on all things agile. Thinking back on our training sessions at their English and German factories, as well as years of intensive coaching at their Great-Britain and Europe headquarters, brings back fond memories.

Of course we were happy to help out when the head of IT for Toyota Europe asked us to help them figure out how to scale agility beyond its current scope at the company.

We strongly believe in pulling the senior management into the bathtub when going for large-scale agility.

We spent three full days on-site introducing the essential leadership skills and insights required to stay on top of things when agile spreads like a wildfire:

  • mastering adaptive systems and system dynamics

  • queueing theory (I’m sure they’re still tinkering with the cool traffic simulations)

  • hypothesis-driven empirical process control

These are challenging topics, so we ensured they learned by discussing real-life business challenges. And that was the best part: they spent almost two full days discussing and designing their large-scale agile way of working instead of blindly adopting a framework or consultancy blueprint.
